Hi there! My name is Amber Martin. I have Midwest roots and a California soul. I like things simple. I often think with my heart instead of my mind. I’m working on that balance. I enjoy photography, watercolors and pottery. I like playing with my dog (and my husband), surfing, yoga and music. I am also an art teacher. Are you hiring?

Lately, I have departed from my shoe obsession. They still get occasional attention, but I have been directing a lot of my photographic energy to learning about taking shots in low light. Getting the right aperture and shutter speed are a tricky biz, but I've been having fun experimenting with them. Capturing light while the subject is moving produces some interesting compositions. I have been photographing my husband's new band, and I feel like I'm generating images that really show the energy that is being emanating. It's a bit of a trip!

I'm still working on my pottery, but so far the job hunt has encompassed most of my free time. I'm hoping the spring and the sunshine will coax me out into the back yard to become better friends with the kick wheel. I've put together a new collection of photographs, and added a few more pieces to my traditional art collection. I've taken a new interest in acrylic and oil painting, and am really interested in getting some canvases and working on a larger scale.
